Vacation, Life is Sweet ... Kinda

Wow, two weeks of freedom. ::Chuckles.:: Obviously, the first objective of "Being Away From Work" was fabulous. Both Mike and I thoroughly enjoyed that aspect. I don't know about him, but I certainly did not think about work in the least during our time away.

The train rides were Hell. So those will be explained later.

Chicago, v.1

The first time through Chicago, Khris took us out to the mall ("HIP") to go to a Namco arcade, so that Mike could play Tekken 5. It looks fucking beautiful. Since it is still a beta cabinet, there were many missing aspects to the game, but taking that into consideration makes the game seem even more outstanding than T4. And speaking of the cabinet, it was a sit-down case--Japanese style. As was the entire arcade. Oh man, stupid American's and stupid stand-up cabinets!!

The ride to and from the mall was fun. We took the subway, which was a first for me. I don't trust the idea of a subway in California, so I've never expierenced a subway before. It was interesting, especially when it went above ground. I'm easily amused.

Oh yeah! Khris gave him a freaking hilarious drawing of Fyre and Shouji playing Monopoly. OMG. I really ought to scan it (along with all of Samwise's drawings of Mike dying). And a mini Dawn lunchbox filled with Reisen. Mmm!

California

The entire visit was nice, and the weather was beautiful. We visited our old store, and were rather struck at some of the changes made there. In the first place, excluding the second floor, there are no more info desks; only satelite desks. On the second floor, the computers have been turned around for customer use. Strangest is the lack of desk in music, because it was a huge desk to begin with, and took up so much room.

It was great seeing Odie and Kristie. We made sure they didn't do any work for a good three hours, split up between the two days we went there. Odie even sent me on a Coffee Bean run. LOL We also saw Janet and Padric, who was quite a change himself (shaggy hair; 'nough said).

We had nearly everything we wanted to eat. LOL!! In-and-Out, Fatburger, Del Taco, Tito's, Rally's. The only thing we missed was Tommy's. Plus, Mom did a roast one night, and tacos on another. Mmmmmm!

I finally went to a Vans store and got two pairs of shoes. I was so excited, because they released a new platform line! I loved my platform Vans to death and beyond! Mom paid for one pair as a birthday present.

(Note: I just found this entry today—2 July 2005—obviously not completed and in Draft status. Gods, I'm a flake. Publishing now, perhaps later I'll fill in more details. Sorry!! ~L.)
